Hello everyone :)
Currently, I am turning an Amish-built shed into a cabin in Gilmore, Idaho, and one of the questions that I get asked a lot is...
...how much did your Amish shed cost?
So, I wanted to write a quick blog post about it to help anyone considering turning a shed into a cabin in the future.
The Backstory
I bought the land where this "shed" is located in Gilmore back in 2021, and it took me a couple of years to save enough to purchase the shed itself.
I purchased the shed on May 29, 2023, and it was delivered on July 17, 2023. It took less than two months for the Amish builders in Baker, Idaho, to construct and deliver the shed :)
Since the Amish do not drive semis, the shed was delivered by a third-party company, which added a delivery fee to the total cost.
The total cost of the Amish-built shed was $7,754.00 - this includes some extra upgrades such as adding five extra windows and a door with glass. The cost for these extras was $625.00. The delivery fee was $150.00, and I gave the driver an additional $160.00 as a tip.
If I were to order another shed, I would include headers over all the windows and doors. That's my only regret with this shed; however, it's not a major issue as I plan to add them myself next year when I start working on the interior.
Below is a video of the shed being delivered, along with some photos of the inside and outside of the shed. Note that I installed a clay dirt foundation.

Ever since building my first website in 2002, I've been hooked on web development. I now manage my own network of eCommerce/content websites full-time. I'm also building a cabin inside a old ghost town. This is my personal blog, where I discuss web development, SEO, eCommerce, cabin building, and other personal musings.
Brett : Very cool to get the back story and will be neat to watch the progress. Hoping eventually to so do something the similar on the west coast of Canada somewhere. Amazing that in 2006 I first found your site for it's myspace page information and how to build PHP site header/footers for resale. How times change hah. Anyways, keep up the great posts, looking forward to the updates.
